LaForge and Budd Construction Co., Parsons, placed the only bid on the project. The company bid $1,583,187.50 for the base bid and an option. The engineer’s estimate was $1,730,224.
The work will include reconstruction of 19000 Road from the western edge of the county at Anderson Road 6 miles east to Gray Road.
Sandy Krider, Public Works director, said LaForge and Budd will work on the project in June. The county will pay for 20 percent of the work. The county commissioners signed an agreement with the Federal Highway Administration.
Also on Monday the commissioners signed an addendum on an agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation regarding the Federal Fund Exchange. The commissioners delayed signing an earlier version of the supplemental agreement that KDOT created because it stated the state only had to disburse $1,000 a month of the federal road money to the county.
