Great Bend loads up on “insurance” inspection for water line project

With many of the larger purchases in our lives we buy insurance to make sure they stay ours and in good condition. The City of Great Bend allotted $6 million for water line improvements that started last summer that includes 18 major water mains.

Engineer Josh Golka from Professional Engineering Consultants told the Great Bend City Council Monday night it is wise to protect their investment with ongoing inspections. The council approved a 26-week inspection contract with PEC over the summer that is set to conclude on March 21, 2018. The governing body elected to initially use a six-month inspection contract for a project that is expected to last a year and a half because of the price and the unknown if it was needed.
