The Chanute Recreation Commission gave its go-ahead Wednesday evening to an estimated $1 million ballfield project in a joint meeting with the Parks Advisory Board.
The board previously approved the six-diamond proposal, and the commission Wednesday also gave CRC Director Steve Slane consent to discuss the project with financial firms. The project will be spread over several years, beginning with four baseball/softball fields in a “wagon wheel” arrangement.
“I wish we could do it all at once,” Parks Director Todd Newman said.
