Crews work on a 16-inch water main near Spring Creek and Kay Street that corroded and caused a number of leaks, leading to the loss of 179 million gallons during a two-month period this summer. While the problem was detected, the resulting water bill was about $600,000. Last week, city officials received word that their water provider, the city of Wichita, had agreed to reduce that amount by $84,000. The payment has been made.
