The city of Atchison was one of 16 communities awarded new Kansas Entrepreneurship Tax Credits to replenish its E-Community fund, which provides matching loans and grants in support of local business.
The credits allocated to Atchison and 15 other communities this week total $895,920, allowing those communities to replenish their local loan funds. In total, those communities will be able to raise about $1.1 million, according to a press release.
The loans offered through the E-Community program are offered as low interest financing for startups, expansions and acquisitions in the Atchison community, up to a maximum of $45,000. The city says that even if a business has been turned down before by a bank or credit union, it might still qualify for an E-Community loan.
