Coffeyville electric crew heading to Florida

Three Coffeyville Municipal Light & Power linemen are heading to Florida to support storm relief efforts from Hurricane Irma. Bruce Koehn, Line Crew Foreman; Jarod Ward, journeyman; and Wyatt Corsair, apprentice lineman, are on their way to Florida following a request from the Orlando Municipal Utilities Commission.

The American Public Power Association and Kansas Municipal Utilities, through the Kansas Mutual Aid Program, has requested mutual aid from participating electric utilities in Kansas. In addition to Coffeyville, crews from Kansas City BPU, Chanute, Gardner, Pratt, Clay Center, Baldwin City and Wellington will travel to Florida. They plan to arrive in Orlando on Saturday.

Once the crews arrive in Florida they will be assigned a location depending on needs. “Right now the plans are to stage in Orlando,” said Electric Distribution Superintendent Steve Pratt. “We’re sending a good experienced crew down to assist Orlando Municipal with getting power to areas affected by the hurricane restored as quickly as possible.”
