Finney County officials to discuss ‘sanctuary’ status

Discussion of how to get rid of Finney County’s status as a so-called sanctuary county will be take up by the county commission on Monday.

The Finney County Commission will meet at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the County Administrative Center, 311 N. Ninth St.

The commission and Sheriff Kevin Bascue plan to talk about the sanctuary county designation, something local officials dispute.

During his first week as president, one of the executive orders Donald Trump issued called for stripping so-called sanctuary cities of federal grant money.
