Thinking about spray paint can invoke images of inner city graffiti and vandalism, but local artist Justin Brown is trying to change that.
“I really love bringing this style of art to this town,” Brown said. “Spray paint gets a bad wrap for graffiti, but I hope my art shows people that spray paint isn’t just for vandalizing.”
Brown works at the Garden City waste water treatment plant, but spends most of his time creating bright and colorful works of art. Recently, he created a mural inside the Garden City utilities office — a more than 10-foot wide painting featuring eye popping blues, gold and green.
Spray painting is new for Brown, but he has worked on his art skills since he was a child.
