Troubles are brewing in Glencoe Township.
Township clerk Suzy Cokeley addressed Butler County Commissioners during public comments Tuesday, she said in an effort to stave off a potential Pleasant Township situation.
Cokeley told the commission that she was concerned with the election of Jim Squire due to his current position as machine operator at the township. She cited a potential conflict of interest as he is a paid employee of the township, and wishes to continue to be despite being elected as treasurer this November.
Squire won the appointment of Henry McElroy, who was named interim treasurer by Commissioner Mike Wheeler, who’s district the township is in. Squire approached Wheeler to be named interim treasure, but was denied by Wheeler who cited conflict of interest. Commissioner Jeff Masterson stated he believed the residents of the township voided that conflict with their vote in November.
