Chanute community survey reviewed; plan of action next

Clothing, soft goods, dining and entertainment options led the list of businesses and services Chanute consumers would like to see. The question is how to get them here without duplicating other communities.
Consultants studying the Neosho County-area economy talked about the results of a survey of residents, and also gathered more comments that will go towards a plan.
Rob Gilligan and Casey Woods of Placemakers, LLC, met with about 50 to 75 residents and community leaders at the Central Park Pavilion in Chanute to discuss the survey results and also get more information. For part of the presentation, the audience broke into small groups for discussion, and later they had a chance to indicate what approaches they would support and in what way.
Gilligan is an Emporia city commissioner and Woods is director of Emporia’s Main Street program.
