Adam Weingartner knew he wanted to go into law enforcement by the time he was a pre-teen.
“I remember very clearly in junior high, we met with our guidance counselor, and you were kind of mapping out what your curriculum was going to be in high school leading into college and what career field you might like,” Weingartner, recently appointed assistant chief of the Ottawa Police Department, said. “Policing has always been what I wanted to do, and I remember that conversation with him, and that kind of set the path that led me to be here today. I followed that all the way…That was the day I decided that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.”
And the rewards of the career have been plenty, Weingartner said
