Ulysses home for reforming criminals stirs controversy

In November, when Calvin Hall came across what may soon be a discipleship home for reforming criminals in Ulysses, he wasn’t sure what to make of it.

Hall lives near the proposed facility, 2537 W. Road 10, just outside Ulysses, and he felt that the home, which would serve as a place of re-assimilation and residence for as many as 20 convicted criminals, was a potential danger to the community.

Two months later, the planned home, known as the House of Philip, has become a point of controversy in Ulysses.
