In an effort to increase efficiency, changes pertaining to the way things are documented regarding utilities in Osawatomie were recentlt made to the city’s utility policies and ordinances.
City Manager Don Cawby told City Council members in his report to the council in December that that these changes were in the interest of maintaining fair and consistent billing practices and included documentation of policies and procedures that have long been applied to the utility-billing process.
Another major desire is to have these policies presented to the public in a manner that is transparent and consistent, he said.
The biggest changes include a rearrangement of the billing cycle, changes to the connection and disconnection process and associated fees and an automatic extension to every customer who is current on his/her utility bill.
