The Leavenworth County Commission has limited when the county treasurer can access her office to only normal business hours.
The issue came up during Thursday’s County Commission meeting.
During a public comment period, former Commissioner Louis Klemp asked if one of the county’s elected officials had been locked out of the Leavenworth County Courthouse, where the Treasurer’s Office is located.
During the ensuing discussion, Commissioner Dennis Bixby said security measures were taken after the husband of County Treasurer Janice Van Parys was reportedly seen in the courthouse at different hours of the day.
“That’s a security risk,” Bixby said.
