Arkansas City city manager Nick Hernandez will receive $13,500 more in salary following a unanimous vote by the city commission earlier this week.
The new agreement also allows Hernandez to sell back up to 30 days of accrued vacation time, if first approved by the mayor.
City officials stated this allows Hernandez to still benefit from those days even if his job duties do not allow for him to take time off for vacation.
Similiar-sized communities pay their city managers an average of $120,000, according to several online sources. Those numbers ranged from about $57,000 for smaller towns with less than 2,500 residents to $217,000 on average for cities with a population of 1 million.
