Leavenworth city commissioners approve permit for cellphone tower

At one point last week, the mayor said the issue dead. But Leavenworth city commissioners voted Tuesday to approve a special use permit for a cellphone tower in the city.
The special use permit was requested for a 100-foot monopole communications tower that will be constructed on a vacant lot north of Spruce Street and east of Railroad Avenue.
The tower will serve T-Mobile and have space for the co-location of equipment of three additional cellphone carriers.

Residents who live near the site have objected to the tower.
