Western Kansas towns becoming regional destinations

Garden City and Dodge City are two towns that couldn’t be any more different, but in recent years both have worked hard to attract new businesses to make themselves “destination locations” in western Kansas.

In 2016 a new water park, restaurant, and distillery opened in Dodge.

Next year, the Boot Hill Museum will undergo renovations and a new hotel, brewery and RV park will also open.

This year, Garden City unveiled a new indoor water park and hotel, a growth business owner Brian Rupp said he has seen for decades, “I think people that live out here aren’t surprised, Garden City’s been growing for quite some time.”
