Officials have conflicted opinions on five-acre lot proposal

The ongoing discussion about whether the county should modify its regulations to make it easier for people to purchase smaller five-acre lots has reached a crossroads, as county commissioners, planning commissioners and city officials attempt to find common ground amid conflicted opinions.
At the request of the Miami County Commission, members of the Miami County Planning Commission have spent the past three months considering ways to make it easier for smaller five-acre lots to be purchased throughout the county.
Currently, a majority of the county is zoned either Agricultural, with a minimum lot size of 20 acres, or Countryside, with a minimum lot size of 15 acres.
