Paola City Council members have been fielding complaints about vehicles being parked in front yards throughout the city, and they are working on a possible new ordinance to fix the problem.
The issue was discussed during a council work session Dec. 6 at Paola City Hall. City Manager Jay Wieland said he took a short drive during his lunch break and counted about 20 vehicles parked in yards.
The council members reviewed a policy from Augusta, Kan., related to where vehicles can legally be parked on private property.
Wieland said the policy is likely more encompassing than Paola needs, but it is a starting point.
