Judge rules city must annex county roads

The city has 30 days to appeal a Saline County District Court ruling that it must annex portions of nine county roads.

City Attorney Greg Bengtson told Salina city commissioners of Judge William Elliott’s ruling during a meeting Monday.

The ruling was in regard to a lawsuit filed by Saline County over interpretation of a 2014 statute dealing with annexation of county roads bordering the city.

Bengtson said Elliott granted the county’s request for declaratory judgment and ordered that the city annex the nine roads mentioned, including the four that abut the Salina Landfill. Those four are Burma, Water Well, Lightville and Farrelly roads.
