Pratt County Commission: KDOT recommends counties get their federal money

The Pratt County Road Department is getting a very early Christmas present from the federal government and the Kansas Department of Transportation.
At the urging of KDOT, counties are requested to withdraw federal funding KDOT has managed for those counties. The action was announced to the Pratt County commissioners at their regular weekly meeting Monday.
Doug Freund, county road and bridge supervisor, presented the information and revealed the county would receive $952,000, less a 10 percent management fee for KDOT. The money comes from the Federal Aid Fund Exchange and KDOT manages the money for the counties and receives a management fee for that service.
Freund said KDOT made it clear it would a good thing for counties to get their money out of this fund soon.
