South Hutch community questions EPA report of lead in drinking water

In South Hutchinson though, the E.P.A. report came as a surprise. South Hutchinson’s city manager says the city has been testing for lead since 2000.

“It is very important because any amount of lead can be dangerous if it accumulates in the human body,” he said.

While South Hutchinson had one positive test, it didn’t meet the state requirements for follow-up testing. The city’s manager thinks it may have been a false-positive, but adds, even if it’s not, the pipes and distribution facilities in South Hutchinson don not have any lead in them.
