The City of Girard continues to struggle with the water pressure caused by the new towers.
The city council spoke about the matter during Tuesday’s meeting. The council also took an executive session to discuss the issue further at the meeting’s end.
“We can’t fill the towers because we keep blowing water mains in town,” said City Administrator Chris Weiner. “The water pressure that the new towers have when we try to fill them is too high for existing in-ground infrastructure. So we are moving forward with a plan to install a pressure reducing valve in the main water tower that will allow us to fill it to capacity, but reduce the water pressure out of the tower to a manageable level.”
