Glen Elder City Council makes animal code exception

Danny and Ashley Spaulding came before the council requesting permission to have a third dog, a pit bull mix, at their home in the city limits. Pit Bulls have been banned in the city limits since 1987. City Code dictates that only two dogs are allowed per household within the city limits. The dog owners claimed to have insurance on the animals, and that they are very much indoor dogs that are only outside limited times per day. All three dogs are spayed or neutered. The owners also expressed intentions to build an outdoor pen.

It was unanimously approved by the council to make an exemption for the pit breed dog specifically to be allowed in the household, and this exemption was made only for the dog in question.
