A divided Shawnee County Commission voted Monday to approve a contract for a comprehensive plan of community and economic development in unincorporated Shawnee County.
Commissioner Bob Archer, a frequent critic of the plan, voted against it. Commissioners Kevin Cook and Shelly Buhler voted in favor.
“I remain somewhat skeptical of the comprehensive plan,” Cook said but argued the county needs a guiding document.
“At this point it is more random than it is organized,” he said. “We really need to have something that guides our county.”
