Finney County Economic Development Corp. looking to military to fill need for workers

Economic growth in Finney County has resulted in a need for additional workers. One way Finney County Economic Development Corp. is addressing the need is by visiting military bases where exiting military personnel are seeking civilian jobs.

FCEDC President Lona DuVall and Project Manager Nicole Lucas visited Fort Riley Army base on March 8 for two reasons — to provide information to outgoing soldiers about job opportunities in Finney County and to determine what could be done to attract them to the area after they exit the military.

DuVall told the FCEDC board of directors Wednesday that there is a demand for qualified workers, particularly plumbers, electricians, welders and truck drivers.
