Labette County supported reviving a 1999 micro-loan program for new and existing small businesses.
The program still has $64,000 available for lending to small businesses in the county.
Laura Moore, community development director for the city of Parsons, discussed the loan program with Labette County commissioners on Monday at their weekly meeting. Commissioner Jack Martin was absent from the meeting.
Moore said the program has been dormant since Larry Eller, the city’s former community development director, retired in 2006.
The program can loan from $5,000 to $25,000 to new or existing small businesses with five or fewer employees. The business must be new or wish to expand.
