During a Salina City Commission study session Monday to review the city’s housing survey, members of Salina’s building community again claimed that Salina is out of lots for affordable housing.
“The city right now has a glut of higher-end platted lots,” said developer Stan Byquist. “They just don’t get built on very rapidly. The need we have now, and it’s a pretty dire need, is the $200,000 to $250,000 (house). We are virtually out of platted lots with infrastructure.”
Developer Kelly Dunn noted that the Salina Community Economic Development Organization was formed to bring jobs to Salina. However, if it’s successful in bringing in companies, there will be a need for building lots.
