Leavenworth County commissioners discussed Monday whether they should use a design-build method for road improvement projects.
The county typically uses a methodology in which a team designs the improvements before bids are accepted for the construction work. County Counselor David Van Parys said the design-build method combines a design and construction team.
“It is, in certain cases, viewed as being an advantageous methodology,” he said.
Van Parys said the advantage of utilizing the design-build process is that it can save time on a project.
“And time is money,” he said.
