Sedgwick County Commissioners are almost ready to approve an active shooter protocol for all county buildings — including the courthouse.
It was already in the works before the Hesston shootings, but now deemed more important than ever.
The call for a plan to deal with an active shooter began several weeks ago. It included making a video available to all county employees that pointed out the three options in dealing with a gunman. They are run, hide, and if cornered, fight.
