Tourism good for Salina’s economy

Whether someone comes from far away for hip replacement surgery, to compete in a tournament or to hunt wild game, Salina’s takeaway is a boost to the economy.

It’s income that enhances the economies of the city, Saline County and the state, said Sylvia Rice, director of Visit Salina, a division of the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce.

“The essence of tourism dollars is they are new dollars,” she said. “It’s so important for people to come to your economy and leave money.”

Tourism is a huge issue in the ongoing Salina 2020 effort to revitalize the downtown.
