Parsons man gets fined, jail time for harassment of city commissioner

A Parsons man faces 30 days in jail and a fine of $500, along with a year of probation, for comments he made about City Commissioner Aaron Keith Stewart on Facebook.
Municipal Court Judge Richard Tucker on Tuesday found Douglas Olds guilty of harassment by telecommunication device following a hearing on Dec. 30. Olds’ jail term is set to begin on Tuesday.
The charge stemmed from statements Olds made to Stewart through a private message on Facebook and posts about the commissioner on Olds’ Facebook page. Although he was found guilty and sentenced on Tuesday, Olds as late as 10 a.m. Friday was still posting comments on his Facebook page about Stewart.
