In the southwest corner of the state, you’ll find one community struggling to keep their economy steady.
Randy Froelich, commissioner in Haskell County says they county has recently been losing money, “We’re in a very very dire financial situation out here.”
The problem began with the decrease in oil prices, 70% of Haskell County’s revenue comes from taxes collected from the oil industry.
“When the oil value goes down the revenues are received with tax revenues affects everyone,” Froelich said.
