One Kansas community to lose “food desert” label

East Winfield has had a food desert designation since a store closed two years ago, but now it’s shedding the label as new Save-A-Lot store is opening in its spot.

“It’s just nice to have a store out here,” said Cowley County resident Carried Biddle.
