Hutchinson City Council to consider setting policy on rural housing incentive following state approval

With state approval in hand, Hutchinson City Council on Tuesday will consider setting a specific policy for rural housing incentive districts.

The incentive program can save people buying homes in new developments tens of thousands of dollars by not having to pay special assessments. The tradeoff is that the city wouldn’t receive new tax revenue from such developments for up to 15 years.
