‘Food deserts’ causing problems for some Kansans

With the closing of three Walmart stores in Wichita and Dillons store in St. John, Kansas in less than two weeks, the issue of “food deserts” is front and center for many Kansans.

The loss of grocery stores in the state is becoming a growing problem as citizens in some small communities now must drive many miles just to have access to healthy food.

The community of St. John is still dealing with the recent news the town’s only grocery store soon will close its doors.
