There are a number of proposals before the Kansas Legislature that has county appraisers and local government officials nervous.
The proposals include prohibiting County Treasurers from distributing any property taxes paid under protest until an appeal is complete, to limiting what can be used as evidence in a property tax dispute.
Greg McHenry, Riley County Appraiser presented the multiple proposals to local leaders during the Intergovernmental Luncheon Monday in Manhattan.
“Basically most of those are attempts to alter the appraisal side of things, and try to affect the level of taxation,” said McHenry.
