Hutch Public Library wants million dollar ideas

The Hutchinson Public Library has practically hit the lottery and is asking the public:

How should it spend $1.4 million?

The late Deborah Leslie Johnson Mosier, a retired schoolteacher in Hutchinson, bequeathed proceeds that will amount to approximately $1.4 million for each of three recipients: the Hutchinson Public Library, Hutchinson Community Foundation, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hutchinson.

“As a staff, we’ve been trying to discern what is the best use of the money,” library director Gregg Wamsley said. “We haven’t made a decision about what to do.”

“It’s potentially a once-in-a-lifetime sort of thing,” he said.

Staff would like to hear from library patrons and from those who haven’t used the library in awhile, Wamsley said. People are encouraged to send ideas to milliondollarideas@hutchpl.org.
