Cowley County: salaries raised to be more competitive

Approval of a significant pay raise for the MIS/GIS director highlighted Tuesday evening’s Cowley County Commission meeting.
Commissioners approved an amended employment agreement with Lucas Goff, director of Management Information Systems/Geographic Information Systems, that will raise his salary from $79,000 to $93,000 with additional benefits.
According to Wayne Wilt, then commission chairman, the commission decided to raise not only Goff’s salary but those of the four employees under him …
The decision came after commissioners realized they were unable to hire replacement personnel for the MIS/GIS department because the county salaries were so much lower than the going rate for such jobs in the area.
