Trees, healthy options could boost McPherson

What do people look for in a hometown?
The answer, varies by person, but prospective McPherson residents might be looking for a younger appeal.
“I’d like to see more entertainment geared at younger people,” said Amanda Wilde, 18, of McPherson. “The coffee shop is nice, but maybe if we had something like smoothies, or healthier options for places to hang out.”
The draw of health-conscious, youth oriented or environmentally-friendly features is shared by residents of all ages. Stacey Kaufman, 32, of McPherson, said she would appreciate more local health food options.
“We have one store, but there’s a huge interest growing,” she said. “You can have a lot more local options, so people can get their health foods and also keep money circulating in our communities by shopping local.”
