Residents in and near Kechi are worried about a proposed asplalt plant being put in near the city limits.
The company wanting to develop the plant, Flint Hills Materials, says that the plant would be a state of the art facility that would cut back on emissions compared to other plants and would not be an eyesore or produce much of an odor.
Residents in the town of Kechi and just outside the city limits – where the facility will be located – are worried that the plant will still smell and be an eyesore.
“Aesthetics, that is why we live here. We live in this wonderful little community and we don’t have those kinds of things here,” said Kechi resident Pattie Speer.
