Land annexations in Ottawa will follow a new set of guiding principals.
Ottawa city commissioners voted unanimously to adopt a four-page resolution of annexation policies in a Wednesday night meeting at City Hall, 101 S. Hickory St.
The recently drafted policies come after a vote by the Franklin County Board of County Commissioners to terminate an interlocal agreement by June 30 that granted joint authority to the city and county over an area mapped for future development.
What was considered the urban growth agreement gave the city authority since 2006 over zoning enforcement and building code enforcement in the area that had the potential to surround the city up to three miles in some places.
