Tourism is big business in Ford County and it’s growing.
According to a statewide study by the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, Ford County ranks eighth in the state in visitor’s spending. The seven counties ranked above Ford County are Johnson, Sedgwick, Wyandotte, Shawnee, Douglas, Saline and Riley counties, all of which have a larger community and more residents than Ford County.
“It means we’re doing something right along with our partners like the casino and the Depot Theater,” said Jan Stevens, director of the Dodge City Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We’re bringing in more conventions, more sporting events and more people to the area.”
By comparison, Finney County ranks 11th, Seward County 13th and Barton County 23rd, according to the study.
