Safety in the Reno County courthouse has been a major concern for District Judge Joseph McCarville. He says judges get threats weekly.
“Having a secure entrances adds an aura of safety for people,” McCarville said.
He says it’s a real issue in Reno County.
“I’ve seen people with guns in the courthouse,” said McCarville. He said he has “experience with a person who came with a suicide vest to the courthouse and got shot out here in the front porch, and I was ducking. I heard the shots, I didn’t see the shots,” said McCarville.
The county is already in the process of adding security to the courthouse.
