The one-year wait to get title insurance on property bought at tax sales has vexed the Hutchinson Land Bank, but City Attorney Paul W. Brown provided some clarity at the land bank’s Tuesday meeting.
Right off the bat, he told board members they could forget about getting the law changed. The state statutes regarding that have been in place since 1949, and they might not be “sacred,” but they’re close to it, Brown said.
But the one-year waiting period before being able to get title insurance isn’t a redemption period.
