Parsons excludes conflict of interest clause for now

The city of Parsons now has a more formal purchasing policy, but city commissioners will have to revisit a section dealing with conflict of interest after they couldn’t reach agreement during a Monday meeting.
The commission voted unanimously to approve the purchase policy after about an hour and a half of discussion, but the city staff will have to make changes to the conflict of interest section based on the guidance of individual commissioners in the next couple of weeks.

The purchasing policy states department directors will make every effort to secure at least three price quotations on non-emergency purchases exceeding $1,000 but less than $5,000.
