Many Parsons residents soon will be able to watch their city leaders discuss and decide issues from the comfort of their own homes.
City commissioners on Monday voted 4-1 to approve the purchase of $3,124 worth of equipment (with $347 in shipping costs) that Matt Hoisington, media and events director for the city, thinks is needed to provide a quality broadcast of the regular meetings. The largest expense is a video mixer that will cost $1,667.
The city commission had considered televising meetings on Cable One’s government access channel, Channel 5, in 2012 but decided against it. Commissioner Aaron Keith Stewart, who joined the board this year, recently revived the proposal.
