The City of Abilene was approved for membership in the Flint Hills Regional Council, an association of local governments in Clay, Dickinson, Geary, Morris, Riley, Pottawatomie and Wabaunsee counties.
The council provides an opportunity for local governments to work together on issues common to the Flint Hills region, and to regional institutions such as Kansas State University, Fort Riley and the proposed National Bio- and Agro-defense Facility.
