Kansas liquor stores would like to change state law to allow “taste tests” for folks shopping in their stores:
Try it before you buy it, that’s the idea behind a new bill that would allow customers to sample alcohol inside Kansas liquor stores. Liquor stores say the move could boost sales.
Right now, under Kansas law, alcohol tasting are legal as long as they are not inside or next door to a liquor store. But in-store tastings would be possible if state lawmakers adopt a new bill that was just introduced in the Senate.
The proposed legislation would come with some restrictions, including portion size. Customers could consume a half ounce of liquor, an ounce of wine or up to two ounces of beer

“For the consumer that maybe is unsure and doesn’t want to spend the money on three or four kinds of wine, they can taste and choose one,” said [Representative Steve] Brunk. “So its a win-win situation for the store owner and the consumer.”
…
A Senate hearing on the bill is expected in the next few weeks.
