

AMC Entertainment, Inc. (the second largest movie chain in the U.S.) is moving its corporate headquarters across the state line — from Kansas City, Missouri to Leawood, Kansas. Kansas is providing millions of dollars in incentives to AMC:
Kansas City (Missouri) Mayor Sly James said he was disappointed [but] … also said he understood AMC’s reasoning, given the significant incentives it will receive from Kansas — millions of dollars that Kansas City and Missouri just couldn’t match.

Leawood Mayor Peggy Dunn, on the other hand, welcomed AMC’s decision and said the exhibitor immediately will become one of the city’s largest employers.
“We were thrilled with the news and delighted that they’re staying in the metro area,” Dunn said.
